The ALIA Handbook
In November, General Council requested that The ALIA Handbook remain in its current format, bound as a complete volume. The budget for the production of the 1997 Handbook is significantly less than for the 1996 production. In 1998 significant cost-savings may be realised through a combination of digital and other publishing, although it is recognised that print media will be the premier format for a considerable period.
inCite
A review of the production processes for inCite will be conducted in February - a report of the review will be presented to General Council. Each issue of inCite has a 'theme', with our proposals for the remainder of 1997 as follows:

Looking ahead |
Australian Library Week
The publishing unit of ALIA has developed Australian Library Week 1997 promotional material, including two posters, a sticker, two postcards, balloons, and two bookmarks. We sought to obtain sponsorship of ALW promotional material and can confirm, at the time of writing, that EBSCO Australia have agreed to sponsor one poster. Further sponsorship avenues are being explored.
Australian Library Journal
The first issue of ALJ was completed in late February and incorporated a number of design improvements, developed in consultation with the editor, John Levett.
Australian Academic and Research Libraries
At the time of writing the process fo appointing a new editor of AARL was underway, with interviews scheduled to take place at the end of February.
