To provide General Council with a report on planning for the 1997 Asian Pacific Specials, Health and Law librarians conference and exhibition.
The conference will be held between 12-16 October 1997 at the Duxton Hotel and the Perth Concert Hall. The theme for the conference is On the edge. All plenary sessions will be held in the Perth Concert Hall with concurrent sessions held at both venues. The trade exhibition will be located in the foyers of the Perth Concert Hall, morning and afternoon teas will be held in the exhibition areas. Irene Nutt is the conference convenor, other members of the committee are Karen Holder, Marie Luffman, Diane Cooper, Anne Greenshields, Cheryl Hamill, Robyn Hull, Karen Delore, and Susanna Rogers. The conference secretariat is Motive Conventions. Conference planning is progressing well. Thirty-seven of the 38 exhibition booths have been sold, but not all of the sponsorship opportunities have been taken up, including the conference and law librarians dinners. The conference registration brochure was completed recently and has been forwarded to all members of the Specials and Health sections of ALIA and the Australian Law Librarians Group and others who expressed an interest. Copies of the registration brochure are held in the ALIA National Office and will be available during the meeting.
