CREATE has been funded by ANTA to develop a national training package for libraries, museums and galleries. The project brings together two industries which have previously been treated separately in education and training. The aim of the project is to improve training and employment pathways in the industry. The project will cover all levels of the AQF included in the existing national competency standards, but packaging of the standards into national qualifications will only occur up to AQF6. The project will use and build on materials already developed in the libraries and museums industries including:- national competency standards
- national libraries curriculum
- national curriculum for the library traineeship
- the libraries RPL project.
It will commence with a mapping exercise to identify all available curricula and resources and determine their appropriateness to the training package. Training packages include an 'endorsed' component and a 'non-endorsed' component. The endorsed component includes national competency standards, national qualifications and national assessment guidelines. The non-endorsed component includes learning strategies, professional development materials and assessment materials.- The deputy executive director has met with the chief executive officer of CREATE to discuss the carriage of the project and membership of the project reference group.
- The project is expected to commence in July 1997, for completion by 30 August 1998.
