Not a bad site. However, I think it could use some links to organisations assisting with issues facing librarians: cut-backs in staff and resource purchasing, the increasing casualisation and Work-For-The-Dole-isation of jobs, worsening pay and conditions, recommendations for or discussions of the merits or otherwise of appropriate software for OPAC systems and terminals, etc.

Please correct your 'libraries' link info for the 'National Library of of Germany' which is incorrectly spelt. Should be 'Die Deutsche Bibliothek'. Looks bad to mispell such an important library if even it is only a German one! Besides, I'm an ex-cataloguer and can't stand spelling errors. Otherwise the site is great!!! Found some terrific info. Keep it up.

I am about to start the evaluation of a new library automation system. I have no prior knowledge in that field. Grateful if anyone can suggest me where is the right step to start. Congratulations, well done ALIA! I became library technician in 1988 and joined the Association straight away. My membership lasted only one year, as at that time, there was no inspiration at all for library technicians to be part of the Association (in my view). It seemed to be aimed at librarians even though there was a membership category for library technicians. I'm proud to report that 12 years later I have only now visited your site and am so impressed, that my membership will definitely be rekindled. Not only has my career come full circle (no, not working in a library now although my qualification has proved invaluable) but also, so has my attitude towards ALIA. Looking forward to joining the CPD program and the mentoring program.

Your web site is very good. We are in the process of redesigning ours and I have spent much of the afternoon looking at the quantity of information you provide on your activities. Although the effect is certainly professional, there is a lightness to the tone of the site that I find particularly admirable. You are to be congratulated.
