Online forms

In some locations on ALIAnet we ask you to enter material into online forms. Some examples are the web updates form and the ALIA Award nomination forms. For the most part, it is straightforward - type in the information and click the submit button.

But what about large entries?
In some cases we ask you to submit essays, newsletters or other large files. It's not as a hard as it may seem. Do not try to send the file in like an e-mail attachment. Open your document in the program you made it with (Word, Pagemaker, for example), select all the text you want to send, copy it, switch to your web browser, and the paste the text into the appropriate field on our form.

Our forms take a lot of text - Branch newsletters are sent in via our updates form in this way. The only catch is that you will need to be creative in dealing with footnotes - copy and paste them separately, making sure that they are properly identified. For example:

... and we've come to the end of the main text of your document. If you have footnotes, comments or a bibliogaphy, start pasting them in below.

-- [insert dashes - or some other indicator - to show that something new is happening]

Footnotes: [title so that we can tell what is coming next]

1. footnote 1

2. footnote 2

3. and so on...

------------------------- [ more dashes here to indicate the end of the first document ]

Document 2 [ another title - new document ]

... and continue until all your material is entered.

Unfortunately, images and tables cannot be sent to ALIA using online forms. Contact ALIA National Office if you need to send documents which cannot be posted in our forms.
