Robin Morrow

This paper is an adaptaion of a presentation by Robin Morrow at the ALIA CYSS one-day seminart on 29 March 1999 'Picture books...through children's eyes'

The aim of this paper is to give some insight into the history and development of the picture book art form, to empasise its importance and increase respect for it by telling of the skills that go into making a picture book, and to give some practical pointers for choosing and using picture books with children...

Robin Morrow founded the first children's bookshop in New South Wales, and has worked as a bookseller and as a visiting lecturer in many courses. Robin now has a freelance editing business, and for the last ten years has been a reviewer of children's books for The Weekend Australian. Robin holds an MA in Children's Literature from the University of Technology, Sydney and is engaged in research there in the area of Australian picture books.
