Australian Serials Special Interest Group [ASSIG]

About ASSIG

The Australian Serial Special Interest Group is interested in all aspects of serials management, including acquisitions, cataloguing, collection management, subscription services, publishing (paper and electronic) and binding.

The objectives of ASSIG are:

  • To bridge the gap between the national and the international producer and the end-user of serials by providing a forum for the interchange of information, ideas, suggestions and the solutions of problems;
  • To promote professional awareness among all those concerned with serials;
  • To identify, highlight and use our group influence to optimise the effective, economic and timely distribution of serials;
  • To maintain liaison with the other sections of ALIA and NZLIA that have a particular interest in serials;
  • To identify and discuss future directions in serials;
  • To co-operate with similar groups overseas.

The group has also contributed toward the introduction of list serving software on ALIAnet.
